Richmond International Airport

The Richmond International Airport is approximately 12 miles from the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC).

Richmond International Airport is the primary airport serving the region, offering numerous daily flights from major cities. The GRCC is a quick 15-20 minute drive from the airport, with taxis, rideshare services (Uber & Lyft), and car rentals readily available.

Newport News - Williamsburg Airport

The Newport News - Williamsburg Airport is approximately 67 miles from the Greater Richmond Convention Center

The next closest one to the Richmond city center, Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. The GRCC is about an hour and 10 minute drive from the airport (dependent on traffic).

Other Airports

Richmond can be easily reached by train (see below) from the Washington, DC area airports -- Dulles International (IAD), Reagan Washington National (DCA), and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) -- which offers direct flight options for many.

Amtrak Train

Richmond is service by two Amtrak Train stations: Staples Mill Road (RVR) and Main Street (RVM). Staples Mill Road has more frequent service but is further away than Main Street.

  • Staples Mill Road

    Approximately 15 minute drive to the GRCC; taxi or rideshare are the best options.
  • Main Street
    1500 E Main St, Richmond, VA 23219.
    Approximately 5 minutes drive to the GRCC via taxi or rideshare; the free Pulse Bus Rapid Transit is also an option (see below).

Taxi or Rideshare Services

The quickest and easiest way to get to downtown is via taxi or rideshare (Uber or Lyft). It takes approximately 15-25 minutes and should cost about $25-35. There is a taxi stand outside of baggage claim on the first floor.

GRTC Bus System

The GRTC Bus System is free for all passenger–just get on the bus and go!

You can take route 7A or 7B to the stop at Broad and 9th, a few blocks from the GRCC.

Driving Directions 

  • From I-95 North: Take exit #74C for Medical College of Virginia. Follow signs for Broad Street/State Capitol/Coliseum. Continue west on Broad Street, turn right onto 3rd Street. The parking deck will be on your right. 

  • From I-95 South/I-64 East: Take exit #75 for 3rd Street. Continue straight, crossing over Marshall Street, and the parking deck will be on your left. 

  • From I-64 West (Airport): Take exit #190 for 5th Street, turn right onto Jackson Street, then left onto 3rd Street. After crossing Marshall Street, the parking deck will be on your left. 

Parking at the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC)

Located at the corner of 3rd & Marshall Streets. This deck is directly connected to the GRCC via the 3rd level. 

  • GPS Address: 351 N. Third St., Richmond, VA 23219 

Parking at GRCC is $8 per entry, and $26 for overnight parking (permit required). The Garage is open most days from 6 AM to 11 PM.

Additional Parking Options

Each of these locations is equipped to meet your parking needs, ensuring a smooth and stress-free start to your visit. In addition to these metered parking options, non-metered parking is available on 1st Street, 2nd Street, Clay Street, and Marshall Street, as well as throughout Jackson Ward. These areas are excellent for visitors looking for free parking options within a convenient walking distance of the convention center.

  • 5th and Marshall Garage: Across the street from the Convention Center and connected to the Mariott Hotel, this garage is the next best option. Hourly rates are $6, with a maximum of $22/day.

  • 7th and Marshall Streets Deck: A covered parking facility that provides ample space for those attending longer events or requiring extended parking. 

  • 100 East Marshall Street Lot: Situated close to the convention center, this lot offers quick access and is ideal for day visitors. 

  • 107 East Marshall Street Lot: Just steps away from the main entrance, this lot provides convenient and accessible parking options for all guests. 

  • North 5th Street Lot: Located slightly further, this lot is perfect for those looking for a quieter, less congested parking option.
