CERF 2027 Conference Theme

Challenges in Understanding Global Estuaries and Coasts

The theme for CERF 2027 is inspired by the tropical location of the conference. Most published studies and work done on estuaries and coasts focus on temperate settings. There is a need to increase our knowledge of understudied regions, particularly in light of growing and often disproportionate pressures from climate change, expanding populations, and other challenges. We must improve our understanding of these connected systems from local to global scales to support management of coastal ecosystems and the communities that rely on them. This program seeks to support research, education, and management of estuaries and coastal regions that span the latitude range of the world’s oceans.
