CERF Silent Auction

Benefiting the Odum/Nixon Fund

Get those (virtual) paddles ready! We are excited to feature one of our favorite in-person CERF conference events by once again hosting a Silent Auction at CERF 2023. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Odum/Nixon Fund.

We are currently looking for donations of items to auction off: please use the linked donation form to register your donated item/experience with the Silent Auction team.

Register your Donations!

Information you will need to know before filling out the donation form:

  • Item title
  • Item description (dimensions, materials if appropriate)
  • Approximate retail value
  • Minimum bid
  • Bid increment
  • How you plan to get it to us (bring to the conference or ship)
  • PHOTOS are greatly appreciated

Donation Ideas

We need items at all price points so that students/early career scientists can participate, too! Please keep in mind that many winners will need to transport items home in their suitcases.

  • Marine/environmental-themed art, crafts, or other handmade items
  • Jewelry (any, but science/marine themed does well here, too!)
  • Sustainably-sourced items
  • Nostalgic CERF swag (t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, koozies)
  • Experiences/trips (timeshares, tours, adventures, a stay at your field station)
  • Donations from local businesses, or a purchase you made from a local business (dining gift cards, tours, crafts, local flair)
  • Swag from your lab or organization
  • Nonperishable food items from your local area or Portland
  • Scientific instruments

Items will be pre-registered using the form and uploaded to the silent auction website Bidding Owl. Auction items will be displayed in person, but bids will be taken online. More information about how to bid online will come in the fall.

Please plan on bringing your items with you to the event. If you need to ship your item, please have it sent to the CERF Office by Friday, November 3, 2023 to:
