About This Workshop

This workshop will provide its participants with instruction and practice in spatial data management and analysis in R. It will include both a lecture and interactive computer activities that will be suitable for all career stages, including people working with or intending to work with spatial data of aquatic environments. Participants should be familiar with the R-environment, and have a basic knowledge about spatial data.

Andreas Holbach is a researcher at Aarhus University in Denmark with a focus on marine ecosystem dynamics using remote sensing technologies. He has a background in geoecology and broad experience in spatial and temporal analyses and modeling of water quality data from various aquatic environments. Some years ago, he discovered the wide opportunities of spatial data processing in ‘R’ and looks forward to sharing a bit of his expertise on using ‘R’ as a Geographic Information System with the coastal and estuarine research community.
